Dementia Care

We understand that a dementia diagnosis affects everyone involved. That’s why it’s important for us to get to know each resident and their family personally. Staff members specifically trained in memory care ensure our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia feel right at home. In addition to offering dementia care on our long-term care households, we have an option called Snug Harbor for those requiring a safer, more secure environment.

Snug Harbor

Wandering and getting lost are common among people with dementia and can occur during any stage of the disease. In fact, 60 percent of people with dementia will wander. As one of only three locked households in the state, Snug Harbor was designed to meet the dynamic needs of residents and families dealing with Alzheimer’s and other memory-related diseases.

Snug Harbor is a secure household that provides care and services to residents requiring a continuously structured and contained living environment. It is a unique care environment that serves individuals who are at high risk for wandering or elopement, providing safety and comfort for our residents with these behaviors.

Dementia Specific Facility

LeadingAge Wisconsin believes that facilities should be recognized for providing the utmost quality of care to individuals living with dementia. That’s why they’ve given Harbor Haven a Dementia Specific designation. This means our care community is dedicated to a holistic philosophy that embraces and fosters individualized dementia-centered care and support.
